Wheat Are We Currantly Talking About | Episode 204 | Beer Review

Image
This week, we're experiencing the the Black Currant Wheat Ale brewed lovingly by Phillips Brewing & Malting Co. It is a fruity yet tart beer and it has one of the best illustrations of black currants we've ever seen. Watch us as we drink our way through this dark-ish beer. Dave showed off his ability to talk about radler beer (and, really, is a radler a beer?) and a bear crept quietly from his armoire and ate him alive.

It Was Dark and Raining in The Big Squeezy | Episode 203 | Beer Review

Image
In today's episode, everything is going sideways as we find ourselves wandering the dark streets of The Big Squeezy by Torchlight Brewing. It promises to be the best pale ale beer ever and will give us the fruit experience of a lifetime. Dave liked this one. He really did. A bear walked into the room, witnessed his love for the beer... and then the bear walked backwards out of the door. A look of shock on the bear's face could not be overstated.

The Jimbo Beaming Bud of Coppery Joy | Episode 202 | Beer Review

Image
We surprised ourselves this week with the Budweiser Copper Lager. Yes. We are featuring Budweiser on the show. Don't hate on us for this because we're very sure this beer will taste okay. It might even be good! They even had Charlize Theron in their Copper Lager commercial! Trust us! Would we ever steer your wrong? Dave took out a library book on bears this week as he was sure the space-time continuum was broken since we are hosting "a bud" on the show. The bears noticed his reading of such a book and remained quietly under his bed.

The Eight Headed Octosour | Episode 201 | Beer Review

Image
On this week's show we're getting all sour about beer... Apricotopus Apricot Sour that is. Parallel 49 Brewing Co. has created a sour that is inspired by the octopus. We're not sure why either but this beer promises to make our lips pucker just like an octopus bum. (Do they have bums?) We're going to dive in and swim around in the apricot juice and see what happens. Dave was puckered so much during this episode that several nearby bears could hear his cries of sourness and they bust in through his windows and cuddled him out of pity.

We Made It Hazy in the Ten Tree | Episode 200 | Beer Review

Image
We made it to Episode 200 and we couldn't be more surprised we've made it this long. We have endured! On this auspicious occasion we are talking about Stanley Park Brewing's Reforest Hazy IPA. The reason we picked up this beer is because if you purchase it, you can have trees planted in your name -- but they can describe it better than we can. LET’S REFOREST BRITISH COLUMBIA Inspired by the smoky skylines that plagued our home province, REFOREST HAZY IPA aims to help regenerate forests burned by wildfire. For each four-pack sold, ten trees will be planted in Northern B.C. In partnership with tentree and One Tree Planted Learn about the project: www.tentree.ca/pages/stanley-park Dave is awesome and the bear clan recognized him as being one of their own... but only for a single day.

We Are Drawn to Beer Again | Episode 199 | Beer Review

Image
We tackle the Driftwood Brewing's Drawn to Light. It is a Belgian Ale with flowers and honey and other wonderfully smelling things that we couldn't not enjoy it. Dave loved it from the first sip. We don't know what happened! He seemed to Dave had so much love oozing from his face that the the local bear population realized he was a clone and they decided to take matters into their own hands.

We Love Heritage Rivers On The Island | Episode 198 | Beer Review

Image
We look towards the mid-upper section of the island and all the way to Duncan, British Columbia. We have chosen to test the waters around the area and raft down the Red Arrow Brewing's Heritage River Hefeweizen. It holds great promise to soak us in maturity and vigour... or something along those lines. Dave was quite tall this episode. He is taking genetic code from Lock and using it for all his nefarious needs. The bears took a backseat as they fear Lock.

Full Belgian Single Speed Ahead | Episode 197 | Beer Review

Image
This week we're heading into the interior of British Columbia to check out Fernie Brewing Company. They increased our beer speeds with the new single-speed Belgian Style Blonde Ale. We sought it out and it made our thirst for riding deep into the mountain valleys grow... and then we drank some and it subsided. Hey, we like beer and biking but not at the same time. Dave had been eaten by bears just before showtime and we had to build a new robot version of him for the show. Pretty neat, huh?

The IPA Milkshake of Berry Hill | Episode 196 | Beer Review

Image
Alan and Shane take on the triple fruity threat of the Russell Brewing Triple Berry Milkshake IPA. It is a tasty and bold beverage but is overpowered by the fruit and the IPA is lost in the mix. A hazy beer with a lot going for it but it really needs more of a hop punch in the face! Wouldn't we all like to be punched in the face with some hops? Dave was somewhere else this week but who knows. Perhaps it was that letter we sent out to his bear friends to let them know where he was. Hmmmm. (Dave was wandering the streets of Portland, Oregon and visited several breweries down in that region of the world. He said it was amazing. But did he bring any back for us? NO. That guy, I tell ya...)

The Oldest Speckled Hen We've Seen | Episode 195 | Beer Review

Image
This week Lock is in town and we're hitting up the Old Speckled Hen by Morland Brewery. This is one of those craft beers bought up in the frenzy of brewery purchases and... well, life is what we drink of it. It is called an ale but it is ruby in colour and quite tasty. It has been around the block for some time and has a proven record. Dave was hiding from some invaders and he managed to give them the slip by throwing real hens at them. ♥ Subscribe https://goo.gl/zfKUTb ♥

The Crafty Boys React To Malt Liquor for Riot Brewing | Episode 194 | Beer Review

Image
Riot Brewing is in danger of closing! Do you know what this means? If we can't support local brewmasters and their craft beer -- we're going to be forced into drinking malt liquor! YES! This is a problem! But seriously, we hope Riot Brewing Co. survives! Please support them in any way you can. There is a rumour that something is coming where we regular people can purchase a stake in their brewery. Unsure how true this is but we're hoping to join! https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/b-c-storm-leads-to-local-brewery-s-fastest-selling-beer-1.4973808 #saveriot #lifesariot ♥ Subscribe https://goo.gl/zfKUTb ♥ __Episodes__ Next Episode ► Next Week! We're Berry Blue In The Face | Episode 193 | Beer Review

Image
Howe Sound Brewing sends out a blueberry explosion with their You're My Boy Blue Blueberry Wheat Ale. We are going to make this one work for the claim it can make us far cooler than we are right now. Dave was here. Dave was in one piece. Dave is Dave.

It Is Pretty Hazy Out | Episode 192 | Beer Review

Image
We're delving deep into the haze as we find out as much as we can about the Category 12 Juicy Data Hazy IPA. It is a sweet and citrus-y beer that made us happy. Dave was able to find the beer this week only because the bears allowed him through the liquor store doorway. We're not sure why but suspicious of all bear activity near any beer locations.

It's Gonna Get Sour Before It Gets Sweeter | Episode 191 | Beer Review

Image
This excellent lemon-lime sour beer was thunk up by the wizards at Lighthouse Brewing Co. The Lemon Line Sour Ale is low in booze but has a heart that will tear your taste buds out and beat them to sour-y amazement. Dave was able to avoid bear-related death this week as he used the lemons in the beer to mask his scent with lemon-y goodness. Bears don't like being cleaned with lemons so they missed him entirely.

Double Your Flavour, Double Your Fun | Episode 190 | Beer Review

Image
Our ever watchful and caring eyes reviewed a beer designed and brewed by Old Yale Brewing. It is called Weekend Warrior Double IPA and you can't have any. It is a limited batch and we bought them out across the province. No! NO! Stand back! Get back, I say! The bears left Dave alone this week since he is not satisfying anything. Well done, Dave.

Acid Hop Fever Dream | Episode 189 | Beer Review

Image
Tonight's adventure takes us over to Hoyne Brewing's Alpha Acid IPA. This hazy IPA has a lot of live up so since Hoyne replaced one of our favourites on the usual line up. We will dive in... take the heat... smell the hops... and see what happens. Dave wore red today because he thinks he may want to join Starfleet. He really wants to keep out of those random wandering bears that are always seeking his fleshy meat.

The Kettle Sour of Redness | Episode 188 | Beer Review

Image
This week we had a little trouble finding the beer (even when living across the street from the brewery) so we had to settle on Dave giving us the goods. Red Truck Brewing is a player in the market with some decent beers -- but this one... who knows. It wasn't available as much as it should be! Dave was working hard to hide in the shadows. He has become a bear ninja. Or, wait, is that a thing? Do bears act like ninjas or can you prevent them from attacking you when you're the ninja. Only Dave knows. ♥ Subscribe https://goo.gl/zfKUTb ♥ __Episodes__ Next Episode ► https://youtu.be/Av1jAazBV0Q Previous ► https://youtu.be/fi81Eqsh-MA Reviews Playlist ► https://goo.gl/YrsrCP __The Beer__ Red Truck Brewing Tart Your Engines Black Raspberry Kettle Sour https://redtruckbeer.com/ __About The Show__ The Crafty Boys is a fun project for a bunch of friends to sit around, share a beer, and talk about whatever is going on in the beer industry... and other things. The Spooky Pirated Haze | Episode 187 | Beer Review

Image
The beer this week is Lighthouse Brewing Company's Ghost Ship Hazy IPA. We... liked it... but we didn't love it. It wasn't strong enough for our collective pallets. But the strange thing is, after we drank the beer, we felt like we started seeing things out of the corner of our eyes. It was weird. The visions we hazy and it was like ghosts had decided we needed to be taught a lesson. Dave was a little under the weather again with a bear sourced disease. They let him suffer quietly this week.

More Than A Holy Pandan | Episode 186 | Beer Review

Image
We had never heard of a Pandan before and what happened next will SHOCK you! No, really, we reacted so strangely on this one. Dageraad Brewing's Pandan Coconut Porter made us speechless and it was weird and tasty. Dave was leading the pack this week... a pack of bears. A Trifecta of Sweetness and IPA | Episode 185 | Beer Review

Image
This week we went sweet on the stouts. Longwood Brewing and Strathcona Brewing made some cake based stouts and we will figure out if the experiment was worth every drop of sugary awesomeness. Shane couldn't get the beer so he tried on an IPA from Mount Arrowsmith Brewing... let's see who wins. Dave was uncertain about how he could defend himself against an onslaught of bears should they discover that he had some sweet beer nearby. He coated himself in poison to ward them off. Or... perhaps he decided not to shower.

The Light In The Darkness | Episode 184 | Beer Review

Image
We delved into the darkness of space to find this Russian beer and we were successful with our retrieval methods. Driftwood Brewery has produced a top secret beer that only a few people know about. The science is just that good and secretive... but now... we reveal this beer for what it truely is. Dave was able to sleep off his bear cuddle hangover and made his thoughts known as to inter-species cuddles. ♥ Subscribe https://goo.gl/zfKUTb ♥ __Episodes__ Next Episode ► https://youtu.be/VogMxkjHkMk Previous ► https://youtu.be/nqZmma58E1Q Reviews Playlist ► https://goo.gl/YrsrCP __The Beer__ Singularity Russian Imperial Stout Driftwood Brewing https://driftwoodbeer.com/ __About The Show__ The Crafty Boys is a fun project for a bunch of friends to sit around, share a beer, and talk about whatever is going on in the beer industry... and other things. The Galactic Dragon Returns | Episode 183 | Beer Review

Image
This week, we fight the good fight against the space-faring Odin Brewing Company dragon and... we were defeated by the hazy glow of its eyes. The Galactic Space Dragon was able to claw us with good taste and our wounds festered mildly but the dragon took pity on us and bathes us in a healing light of bubbles. Does it make sense? NO! Just drink this amazing beer! Dave was sick today and so was Alan. The bears took a day off.

Look Into The IPA of the Space Dragon | Episode 182 | Beer Review

Image
Our beer this week is the Super Galactic Space Dragon which is a double IPA from Odin Brewing Company. We try it... we loved it... but there is a problem with it. We can't get it that easily! But there is hope, we have heard there are secret stashes around B.C. and we will have to check it out again in the future. Dave we sick this week and he was cuddling with his bear family for the warmth... but we suspect he is being cuddled and warmed up for eating.

A Spicy Redrum, Redrum, Redrum | Episode 181 | Beer Review

Image
We get into the deep end with this week's beer... Redrum Spiced Red Ale from Dead Frog Brewing. They made an interesting little beer with all of the hopes and dreams you'd want in a beer that seems evil from the first sip. Dave was terribly sexy this episode and his bear pals refrained from eating him while on camera. We can't say this was the deal after the show ended.

The Aged Does Get Better With Stave | Episode 180 | Beer Review

Image
The melted liquorice finish is the amazing feel of this beer. We tried staving ourselves from the beer but the dark liquid kept us transfixed for quite a while. We are always on the look out for a beer that can make us be quiet and this one came so close. Dave was lost again... no idea where. He was probably in a bear den somewhere getting a few winks before returning to civilization.

Into The Goat-o-sphere | Episode 179 | Beer Review

Image
This week we head into the stratos-beer with Phillips Space Goat. This lager is fragrant and amazing and we think it is a winning lager-ale type beer. It is an ale... but lagery. Is that a thing? Perhaps and we shall find out because that is our mission in life. Dave appeared after popping out of the ground like an exploding pinecone. He avoided his bear followers by burrowing to the show today.

Beer From A Lucky Pig's Ear | Episode 178 | Beer Review

Image
A cry went out and the new year was brought in -- and this beer is the result.  It is a crafty tangerine and ginger beer named Lucky Pig. It is Red Racer and it is sure to make your eyes water with joy. You will certainly crack open another because that is what bringing in the new year is all about. Dave didn't get the same beer this week because the bears took it all away from him each time he left the store. Buy beer. Exit. Bear beer theft. Repeat.
